Celebrating moon time

Western, Abrahamic culture negates so much of the feminine within us. Not just the feminine Divine which has been largely supplanted, but female physicality generally. We are denied expression of natural femininity, which is replaced by artificial expression. Beginning prior to puberty, females accept and embody a femininity which is a pale reflection of the creature we were created to be, one which does not sweat, get dirty, or bleed.

Our moon time is generally mentioned only in veiled terms, with no acknowledgement of the blood involved, and no concept of the transformative power of the our menstrual cycle, or our physical and spiritual evolution throughout our lives as we work our way through puberty-motherhood-cronedom.

We don't just hold back our blood (physically with plugs, and symbolically by denying it), but equally hold back opportunity for healing and emotional flow. Our culture is one of repression and suppression; the only elements given vent are aggression and greed. Anyone who defies this rule is considered freakish, abnormal and lacking in self control, that is -- immature. And of course we grow what we give energy to, so our aggression increases and personal growth and development of wisdom stagnate.

This gives rise to excessive behaviour, addictions, extreme sports, obsessions, poor self-image – because the natural instinct is to allow flow. So we grasp at anything which enables that suppression, which in turn masks that which needs to find voice or physical manifestation.

Half our tribe is invisible and nullified. We have males; and then we have males with breasts and vaginas. What we lack is the yin, which the natural counter-balance to the yang.
